Bio-ekologi Vektor Malaria di Kecamatan Galang Kota Batam Provinsi Kepulauan Riau(Bio-ecology Malaria Vector in Galang Batam City,Kep. Riau Province )
Galang as one ofthe 12 sub districts in the Batam city, still has the problem of malaria, it has a unique topography because it consists of several islands, coastal areas and population distribution concentrated on certain islands. Other, Galang has annual parasite index (API) 43.3 %oin 2006. The number of malaria cases in Galang showed an increase from 788 in 2 OO 6 to 2447 in 2 OO 7. Fo r supporting malaria control programs in the Galang district, then conducted a study with the aim to understand the bio-ecology malaria vector. The Objective of study to understand the bio-ecology malaria vector at Galang district. The study was conducted in 2008, by identification of vector breeding habitat, vector incrimination and collections of the adult Anopheles by catching the bait human body methods.
The results showed that in the district of Galang were found bree ding places of Anopheles that the highest Anopheles !arvaes per dip concentration was among fishpond and followed by drainages. Anopheles species was caught are four i.e. An. vagus, An. karwari, An. letifer dan An. sundaicus. In term of time of Anopheles sundaicus bites, the most common mosquitoes biting occurred 0-1 AM and 4-5 AM. On the other hand the scarce time biting was 6-8 PM. At 4- 5 AM which workers started to do the activity and an average of 29% parity. So in the District Galang still potentially occur and outbreaks of malaria transmission. Advised eradicating larvae with insecticides and specialty care residents in P. Karas need to set up health care dinics and can utilize the RDT as a tool in case finding.
