Abstract: Skin pigmentation problem is one of the reasons for consultation with a dermatologist. Although not associated with abnormality and morbidity, pigmentation abnormality often causes signyicant effect on appearance. Pigmentation abnormalities are categorized as epidermal le¬sions, epidermo-dermal lesions, and dermal lesions. For practicality, pigmented lesions can be categorized as laser-responsive and laser-unresponsive lesions. Epidermal lesions with good response to laser include ephelides (freckles), simple lentigo, solar lentigo, melanotic labial macule, and seborrhoic keratoses. Lesions with poor response to laser include café au lait macule and nevus spilus. In most cases, epidermo-dermal lesions, such as Becker 's nevus and melasma, show poor response to laser treatment.
