Beban Perawatan dan Ekspresi Emosi pada Pramurawat Pasien Skizofrenia di Rumah Sakit Jiwa (Burden and Emotional Expression among Caregivers of Schizophrenic Patients in a Mental Health Hospital)

Introduction: Caring for schizoprenic patients could create a burden among caregivers which may influence them physicaly, physocologicaly, socially, and economicaly. The aim of this study was to know the characteristics of caregivers, patients, environment, also its association between burden and emotional expression that occured on caregivers of schizophrenic patients.
Methods: This research was a cross-sectional study with 118 subjects who were caregivers of schizophrenic patients in outpatient clinic at Klender Islamic Mental Health Hospital in October till November 2012. All subjects were asked to fill the quesionnaire which contained identity, Burden Assessment Schedule (BAS) instrument to assess the burden of care, and Flow Question¬naire (FQ) instrument to assess the emotional expression.
Results: In this study, there were 67.8% of caregivers who felt the burden. There were 49.2% of them had high emotional expression. The burden was significantly associated with the emotional expression (OR=5.093; 95% CI=2.13-12.19; p
