Pengaruh Perbandingan Konsentrasi Kombinasi Etil Selulosa Dengan Hidroksi Propil Selulosa Sebagai Matriks Terhadap Pelepasan Teofilin (Comparison Effect of Combination Ethykellulose and Hydroxy Propylcellulose as Matrix on Theophyllin Release)
ABSTRACT
Ethyl cellulose and hydroxy propyl cellulose is a cellulose derivative that can be used as a binder for formulating the matrix preparation. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration ratio combination of ethyl cellulose with hydroxy propyl cellulose on the release of theophylline. Pre formulation of matrix was made by wet granulation. A combination of ethyl cellulose and hydroxy propyl cellulose was used. This study used five formulas containing ethyl cellulose and hydroxy propyl cellulose with varying concentrations. The release of theophylline was measured in vitro by dissolution test using a medium with phosphate buffer solution pH 7.5. Sampling was done after 5, 10, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes respectively. Results showed that the average percentage release of theophylline in each formula after 180 minutes, respectively, 68.95, 75.79, 78.45, 88.62 and 86.33%. It was concluded that the higher composition of ethyl cellulose than hydroxy propyl cellulose in the matrix caused declining release of theophylline.
