Perbandingan Penggunaan Setil Alkohol Dan Setostearil Alkohol Sebagai Thickening Agent Terhadap Stabilitas Fisik Scalp Lotion Ekstrak Etanol 96% Buah Mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia. L) {Comparison of Cetyl Alcohol and Setostearyl Alcohol as Thickening Agent on The Physical Stability of Scalp Lotion Ethanol Extract of Noni Fruit (Morinda citrifolia L)}
ABSTRACT
Noni fruit contains scopoletin that can inhibit the growth of fungi Pityrosporum ovale cause dandruff. Ethanol extract of noni fruit was formulated into scalp lotion with cetostearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol as thickening agent. The purpose of this study to compare the use of cetyl alcohol and cetostearyl alcohol on the physical stability of the scalp lotion. The study was begun with the manufacture of viscous extract of noni fruit from the freeze-dried fruit powder by maceration. Scalp lotion was made with concentrations of cetyl alcohol and cetostearyl alcohol 1.5%. Evaluation of the physical stability include organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity and theology, emulsion type, pH, and test of phase separation. Viscosity data was analyzed statistically by General Linear Model (GLM)-Univariate followed by Tukey HSD test, the result showed a significantly smaller value of 0.05, it means that there is a significant difference in each formula. From the data obtained it can be concluded that the use of cetostearyl alcohol 1.5% showed physical stability scalp lotion 96% ethanol extract of noni fruit is better than the use of cetyl alcohol at the same concentration.
