Prevalensi Hipertensi dan HubungannyadenganJenis Kelamin, Usia, sertaSuku di Papua (Hypertension Prevalence and Its Correlation with Sex, Age, and Race in Papua)
Abstract
Introduction: The prevalence of hypertension has a tendency to rise despite prevention and treatment measures. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension is estimated as high as 31,7%, while in Papua 22%. However, prevalence data on hypertension in Nabire District, Papua is not yet available. There are several known risk factors of hypertension, such as sex, age, and race. According to data and known theory, those factors contribute in the development of hypertension. This study was conducted to know the prevalence of hypertension and identify its correlation with factors such as sex, age, and race at Puskesmas X, Nabire District, Papua.
Method: This was a cross sectional study of 150 outpatients of a Community Health Service in Nabire District. Sampling was done consecutively and blood pressure was measured accordingly. Hypertension criteria used was based on JNC VII.
Results: Study showed that the prevalence of hypertension at Puskesmas X, Nabire District was 39,3%. There was a statistically significant correlation between hypertension with age and race, while correlation between hypertension with sex was not found.
Conclusion: The prevalence of hypertension at Puskesmas X, Nabire District was found higher than the prevalence in Papua, even than prevalence in all Indonesia. Age and race were factors that were found to have statistically significant correlation with hypertension.
