ABSTRACT
Pharmacoepidemiolgy apply epidemiology technique to study usage and the effect of drug in large population. Phatmacoepidemiology serves data to evaluate risk and benefit of drug in specific population. The research can use health care data base either medical or administrative database. Data sources in Indonesia for pharmacoepidemiology study are insurance company which collecting claim data from members, medical record database of hospital, prescription in drugstore, adverse event monitoring in Board of food and drug administration, and university. Those data disperse and no relationship between each other. This situation needs an institution which collecting data from any sources. This institution must be independent and has purpose to inform data drug use. This institution must be have access to policy maker to ensure research result is useful for them. Most of data can be used to study pharmacoepidemiolgy in Indonesia otherwise the data spread out and need extra effort to collect them. The independent national board collect data and use them for research in pharmacoepidemiology for policy maker is mandatory.
