The Method to Determine of the Effective Dose through X-Ray Chest Examination (Metoda Penentuan Dosis Efektif pada Pemeriksaan Foto Toraks)
Research on the determination of effective dose received by worker having X-ray chest examination has been carried out at PSPKR. Calculation of effective dose was based on skin entrance dose measured directly using thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) TLD-900 (CaSO4:Dy) chip-type. Then 20 men undergoing X-ray chest examination at PSPKR were taken as samples. For those samples, the skin entrance dose varried from 15.9 mrad up to 49.5 mrad or average of 27.9 mrad with variation coefficient of 27 percent. The effective dose for each exposure varied from 0.78 mrem up to 2.42 mrem or average of 1.36 mrem. These results are comparable with survey results from United Kingdom.
