Pola Penyebaran Penyakit Malaria Di Kecamatan Kokap Kabupaten Kulon Progo Diy Tahun 2009 (Pattern in Malaria Transmission at Kokap Subdistrct, Kulon Progo District, Yogyakarta, 2009)

Background: Kulon Progo Regency is one of the malaria-endemic areas in Yogyakarta and Central Java. The number of malaria cases decreased when compare with the previous year of 85.9 API in 2000 to just 0,2 per mil in 2007. The purpose of this research was to determine the situation of malaria in Kokap Kulon Progo District 2009.
Methods: This research used descriptive method, with cross sectional approach. The sampIe derived from all cases of malaria in Kokap Kulon Progo District totaling 14 positive cases of malaria during t June to August 2009. Research Instruments in the form of a questionnaire and blood tester tool to detect the present of malaria parasites. Data were analyzed descriptively, in the form of tables and table percentage distribution of malaria according job level, geographical distribution, history of malaria morbidity, and the infecting plasmodium species.
Results: The pattern of distribution of malaria in Kokap Kulon Progo District by gender was largely male, which totaled 13 people (92.8%). 15-45 year age group is about 10 people (71.4%). Education level was junior high school (50%). Mine workers (57.1%). Pasient suffering from pain for first time that malaria amounted to 10 people (71.4%). Lived around the Sermo reservoir and the river (42.8%). Do not use mosquito nets and mosquito coils (78.4%). Plasmodium positive patients with Plasmodium vivax was 92,8% and 7,2% positive Plasmodium falcifarum. Conclusion: the gorup of malaria patients are mosly male sex of productive age. Patients infected with Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falcifarum.
