Gambaran Status Gizi, Status Iodium Dan Fungsi Tirold Pada Wanita Usia Subur Di Daerah Endemik Gaki(Thyroid Function, Nutritional and lodine Status of Children Childbearing Age Woman in The Endemic lodine Deficiency Area)
lodine Deficiency Disorder is stil/ one of nutritional problems in lndonesia. The Impact of iodine deficiency disorder is in the physical and mental growth and development which in the long rung will decrease the quality of human resources. Clinical manifestation of iodine deficiency disorders are goiter and cretinism. Cretinism was stil/ found in the newborn in the District of Purworejo. To describe the thyroid function, iodine and nutritional status of childbearing age women in the endemic /DD area. It was a cross-sectional study with 97 of childbearing age women age 15 - 45 years old with TSH > 2,5 ulil/ml: sampIe of blood was col/ected to measured TSH and FreeT4 and urine col/ected to measure urinary iodine excretion. TSH and Free T 4 was analyzed using ELIZA method and urinary iodine excretion analyzed with spectrophotometer. The majority of subjects are 31 - 40 years old and works as farmers with 75,3 % had less than 9 years education; 91,7 % ofthem had normal thyroid function, and 6,2 % had subclinical hypothyroid and 2, 1 % had thyroid hormone resistances. The majority had normal nutritional status. lodine status in 62,9 % subjects were less than 100 jJlU/L with median of urinary iodine excretion of 76 jJlUIL which considered to be mildly deficient. In this research, there was no significant correlation between nutritional status and iodine status with thyroid function. The majority of subjects had a normal thyroid function, and based on iodine status this area can be categorized as a mild endemic IDD area.
