Background: The partograph is a tool to monitor labour progress. It hei ps health care provider to identify slow progress in labor earlier and to prevent prolonged and obstructed labour. Knowledge of partograph should be understood among maternal care provider, even doctors. It is important for last year medical students to have the ability to assist a safe and normal labour by using partograph. This study aimmed to evaluate the partograph knowledge level of the last year medical students.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in June -July 2011 for last year medical students of Diponegoro University, prior to comprehensive clerkship stage. A purposive random sampling method was used in the study with 126 respondents and only 97 respondents who valid to process. Knowledge about partograph was assessed with self administered questionnaire. The obtained data were verified by the data Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University.
Results: It is shown that the last year medical student had a mean knowledge score was 15.74 (± 2.23). Knowledge regarding to partograph level from a total of 20 questions, with the knowledge partograph level is 78.7%. Only 17 (17.5%) students were classified to have ability in writing and application knowledge properly. Conclusion : The knowledge partograph levels of last year medical students are considered good. However, there were some knowledge points about partograph application that have not been understood very well yet.
