Astaxanthin Oral Mempertahankan Jumlah Sel Spermatogenik Mencit Yang Mengalami Aktivitas Fisik Maksimal
Fertility is one of important thing in de term in ing a person s survival. Fertility can be impaired when in the body presence quite a lot of free radicals. Astaxanthin is able to break the chain offree radical reactive oxygen in cell membrane to prevent lipid peroxidation. This study was aimed at determining the effect of astaxanthin in the number of spermatogenic cells ofmice (Mus musculus) induced by physical overtraining. This was a true experimental study with pre-test and post-test control group design. The samples of th is study were strain Balb-C adult male mice. Randomly, 32 mice were divided into two groups, 16 mice were usedfor control group ( P0=the group was given physical overtraining and glyserin), and 16 mice were used for treatment group (P 1 =the group was given physical overtraining and astaxanthin 0,01 mg which was dissolved in glyserin). The rests of the mice were used for post-test examination after 35 days treatment. On the 36th day, all the rest mice were necropsied for microscopic testicle preparation. Data were analyzed by independent sample t-test.
