Proporsi Kejadian Depresi Pasien Kanker di Ruang Rawat Singkat Rumah Sakit Kanker “Dharmais”
Aim: To obtain data about the proportion of depression and possibly related factors in cancer patient admitted to One Day Care facility of "Dhamais" Cancer Hospital.
Method: Cross sectional study was done to 26 adult patients admitted to One Day Care facility of "Dharmais" Cancer Hospital to determine propottioti of depression and possibly related factors. Demographic data included name, age, gender, residence, occupation, education, marriage status, payment coverage. Data related to cancer included cancer type, duration of diagnosis, chemotherapy and other therapy modalities (surgery and radiation). Depression was evaluated using Beck Depression Inventory (BDl).
Result: The study evaluated 26 cancer patient. Proportion of borderiine depression, moderate and severe depression was 13. I % with no extreme severe depression. Proportion of depression was higher in patient with insurance coverage, retired, previous surgery
Conclusion. Proportion of depression in "Dharmais" Cancer Hospital was comparable to other studies. Depression screening as a part of holistic cancer treatment is a necessity in order to lower morbidity, improve outcome, save of health cost and improve quality of life.
