Study Efficacy of Centella Asiatica Extract Encapsulated Into Chitosan Nanoparticles As An Inovative Herbal Anti Aging Cosmetic: Proliferative Activity of Human Dermal Fibroblasts (Studi Efikasi Ekstrak Pegagan Dalam Nanopartikel Kirosa Sebagai Kosmetik Antipenuaan Herbal Inovatif: Aktivitas Proliferasi Fibroblas Dermis Kulit Manusia)
Centella asiatica L. (CA) and chitosan are natural products that promote fibroblast pro-liferation in wound healing. In this study, ethanolic CA extract and aqueous CA extract are encapsulated in chitosan nanoparticies (CNP) by ionotropic gelation. The skin's cell renewal rate decreases along with the natural process of aging.The aim of this study is to com pare the regenerating capability of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Centella asiatica those encapsulated in chitosan nanoparticies toward to Human Dermal Fibroblasts (HDF) Cell viability test (MTT assay) was used to assess the proliferation of HDF.
The result indicates that nanoencapsulated aqueous and ethanolic Centella asiatica extracts enhance, the proliferation of human fibroblasts and also indicate the potential usefulness of nanoencapsulation technique for enhancing proliferation of HDF in the wound healing process. Thus, we suggest that the CA extract encapsulated in CNP can also be used as an effective agent for anti aging in dermocosmetic approach
