Efektivitas Bunga Piretrum Sebagai Insektisida Nyamuk Aedes Aegypti

Dengue disease is a health problem because the cases increased every year. In 2004 the number of cases are 1023 cases and in 2005 increased to 1853 cases. In 2006 after numerous efforts to eradicate dengue disease with high cost such as fumigation (fogging), conselling and to eradicate mosquito breeding, the number of cas es is still an increase reached 3033 cases. Even in early 2008 an official interpreter monitors larvae (jumantik) became the first person who died from dengue fever. One of the prevention efforts that can be done to avoid the disease is kill the dengue Aedes aegypti mosquito. Mosquito control can be done by using insect repellent spray. The dose should be appropriate and in accordance with WHO recommendations, because the mosquitoes resistant to insecticides. Piretrum is one alternative that can be us ed as a mosquito killer drug. This study aims to find out whether piretrum flower can be used to kill the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
Research methods using the experimental study with The Postest - Only Control Group Design. The results showed that piretrum flower significantly affected to kill mosquitoes. The most effective level to kill mosquitoes are 10cc/liter of water. Considering of the benefit of piretrum flower, its recomended to the public to use piretrum flower as a mosquito killer that is save and effective.
