Pengaruh SSBM terhadap Intensitas Nyeri Rheumathoid Arthritis Pada Lanjut Usia

Rheumatoid Arthritis is autoimmune disease that attack joints hence causing chronic inflammation as frequently experienced by elderly. A non pharmacological way to relieve pain is by skin stimulation with SSBM (slow stroke back message) technique. This research was analytic with quasi experiment by pre test and post test group with control approach. Sampie of research was 2 groups selected randomly: experiment group (n = 10) and control groups (n=10).
Research result was prepared by statistical method using Wilcoxon signed ranks test and Mann Withney test with standard error of 0,05. Variable measured in this research was pain intensity using Bourbonais pain scale 0-10. Result showed that most elderly in experiment group experienced pain intensity change from intermediate to mild. It can be seen in statistical test using Wilcoxon signed ranks test resulting P value = 0,014 hence P value < a (0,05) and Mann Whitney post test resulting P value = 0,007 yang artinya P value < α (0,05) maka HO rejected, indicating that there is effect of slow stroke back massage on Rheumatoid Arthritis pain intensity in elderly. Hence it is suggested SSBM to be one alternative for relieving Rheumatoid Arthritis pain in elderly.
