Vaginal candidiasis gives significant morbidity on quality of life. Stresor can affect the immune system through cortisol, but the mechanism remains unclear. This research was aimed to investigate the effect of cortisollevels increase resulted from chronic stres on increase of vulvovaginal candidiasis through increase of PGE21evels and decrease of BAFF, IL -21 and sigA. This is an experimental laboratory research post test only control group in female rats. Rats were divided in positive and negative qroups, and two treatment groups in 3 times observation. After 7, 14 and 28 days, plasma cortisollevels was examined, as well a~ BAFF, IL-21, PGE-2, slg A by ELlSA and mucosal C. albicans colonies. Data were analyzed using unpaired t test, one way ANOVA, Kruskall Wallis and path analysis. The results of this study indicate that electrical stimulation and exposure to predators for 7,14 and 28 days will increase levels of cortisol, PGE 2, the number of Candida and inflammatory cells in vaginal mucosa, but resulted in lower levels of IL21, BAFF and slg A. Path analysis show stres increases cortisollevel that has an in direct effect on the number of Candida through the reduction of BAFF and IL-21 at- 0,565 and -0,447, will affect the sigA for 0,460 and 0,364 and increase the colony of Candida. Stres also has an in direct effect on the number of Candida by PGE for 0.481. PGE-2 also enhance the inflammatory cells which in turn causes the symptoms of Candidiasis. It can be concluded that physical and psychological stres shown to increase the number of Candida and inflammation reactions through the reduction of BAFF, IL21 and slg A and increased PGE2.
