Perbandingan Efek Salbutamol dengan Salbutamol yang Diencer¬kan dengan NaCI 0,9% pada Pasien Dewasa dengan Asma Akut Sedang di RS Persahabatan (Comparison of the Effect of Nebulization between Salbutamol and Salbutamol Diluted with Normal Saline in Adult Patient with Moderate Asthma Exacerbation in Persahabatan-Hospital/Indri Savitri Idrus
Background: Asthma is a chronic airway disease that causes difficulty in breathing in which bronchospasm is a hallmark in acute exacerbation. In management of asthma attack, agonist β2 is the best option as treatment for mild, moderate and severe asthma. Agonist β2 nebulization as bronchodilator has been used wide/y nowadays. Lack of clinical study have been done to compare the pharmacological effect of salbutamol nebulization with salbutamol combined with 0.9% sodium chloride for the asthma treatment. The aim of this study was to compare salbutamol nebulization vs salbutamol diluted in 0.9% sodium chloride in adult asthma patients.
Methods: Sixty patients with moderate asthma were randomized into 2 groups. First group received diluted 2.5 mg salbutamol nebulization with normal saline and the second group had 2.5 mg undiluted salbutamol. All treatments were carried out in double blind fashion in which the subject & clinical team unable to find out the intervention they had.
Results: Baseline characteristics were similar between 2 groups (p > 0.05). In group I which were receive diluted salbutamol found significant decrease in oxygen saturation starting 40 minute after nebulization compared with group" (p
