Curing Effect of Acupuncture in Post Herpetic Neuralgia (Efek Penyembuhan Akupunktur terhadap Neuralgia Pascaherpetika)

This study was a randomized controlled clinical trial for acupuncture treatment of post herpetic neuralgia of the spinal nerves, involving 14 patients referred from Department of Dermatology RSUPNCM Jakarta. Subjects were divided in two randomized groups, both received AB mirazin (Amitriptilin 5 mg + trifluoperazin 0.5 mg) 20 tablets 2 times 1 tablet a day. The study group was treated with acupuncture in 12 sessions with points II.4, III.36, VI.3, XII.3, Loo and Hua To Sia Ci point. The control group was treated with acupuncture on Hua To Sia Ci contralateral points. Evaluation on pain and other effects was taken in the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th and 2 weeks after treatment. The results showed significant differences between study and controlled groups in pain killing effect. The decrease of pain in the case group was good and excellent 57.14 percent after 3 sessions and 100 percent after 6 sessions.
