Health Centres Medical Equipment Maintenance System Areas in South Jakarta Jakarta

Medical equipment trouble can be caused by several aspects, among others, the medicalequipment is not equipped by the service and operating manual book, the unavailability of spare parts, and lack of trained techniians. The purpose of this study was to know the application of maintenance system, technicians and users of medical equipment and provides a description of medical equipment maintenance system in the three health centers in South Jakarta. Information was collected by indepth interview and observation. Informants of this study were the head, technicians and users of medical equipment at health center owned by the local governmwnt of South Jakarta, DKI Jakarta. The results indicated that the maintenance system of medical equipment in 3 health centers (Tebet, Kebayoran Baru and Kebayoran Lama) have not been going well. The limited number, knowledge, skill and work equipment facilities were constraints in medical equipment maintenance program. Planned maintenance program has been created by health centers, but the implementation was done by the third party. It is suggested to recruite new personnel especially personnel with education background in biomedical equipment technician, to complete work facilities for maintenance activities, and management support is needed in maintenance program so that it can run optimally.
