The Motivation of Jakarta's Inhabitants in Seeking Dental Service
Oral health takes part in the whole human’s health. National Survey on Family’s Health (SKRT) shows that the prevalence of dental illnes is quite high. Deteriorated teeth might be extracted by the dentists. And there is no data of the repreplacement of the missing teeth. The data of the missing teeth can be used for predicting the needs of the prosthesis for Jakarta’s inhabitants. The objective of this research is to provide analytic survey data for Jakarta’s inhabitants so that the data can be used in planning the dental health service. The survey was conducted at 5 Public Health Centers with 113samples. DMF-T. Plaque Index were examined for each sample. After that each sample should fillin a questioner. The questioner contains several questions to access the aspect of oral structure, oral function and psychosocial related to seek dental treatment. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analyzes to find out the relationship among varaibles. Data from the questioner were analyzed with multiple logistic so that a model for oral structure, oral function and psychosocial aspects could be found. As a result, the average of missing teeth was 3,66±0.34, but the mean of the Plaque Index was 0.66±0.061, with good oral hygiene (67.26%). The motivation of Jakarta’s Inhabitants in seeking professional dental service in public Health Centers are because of teeth’s position, the color of teeth and gum; the ability for grinding the food using posterior teeth, xerosotomia, pain at the head and neck; oral condition when meet, talk, eat with others and when participate in activities with others. There is a change of motivation for seeking dental service at public Health Centers.
