Effect of Nutrition Counseling to Energy, Nutrient Intake and Nutritional Status of HIV Patient
The objective of this research is to find out effect nutrition counseling to nutrition knoeledge, energy, nutrient intake and nutrional status of HIV patients. This research was done at Sulianti Hospital, November 2010-Januari 2011. This research uses One Group Pretest- Post test Design. The majority of sample are 24, 27 and 28 years old. Javanese and Betawi, Most of them are high school graduates. Their nutrition knowledge were about 47-73 before counseling and 50-87 after counseling. HIV/AIDS patients hospitalized at Sulianti Suroso Hospital commonly were at late stages. Nutritional patients required are 2033 calories, 57 gr protein, 215 gr carbohydrates and 41 gr fat. No patients could spend a portion for energy and nutrients that are good for his needs. The words are given every hour to the patients so that they could eat eagerly and they can keep them. In conclusion, patients who received conclusion, patients who received counseling and empathy from the nutrition officer and accompanied by the family have a better intake than other patients. Patients knowledge about leaflet content is also increased. It is shown the importance of leaflets and counseling to HIV/AID patients in the success of nutrition services at the hospital. Suggestion, counseling is not only for patients but also their companion/family and also should be performed regularly
