Anemia pada Pasien Anak di RSU Kabupaten Tangerang
Indonesia is one of the countries where anemia becomes one of the community health problems. Anemia, especially iron deficiency anemia, has serious implications in children in terms of impaired the growth and neurodevelopment status, cognitive capacity, and also changing the behavior pattern. Moderate and severe anemia can lead to cardiovascular dysfunctions, and in some cases it can cause mortality. Prevention, early detection, and the right therapy can prevent someone from the complications. This study is aimed to know the prevalence of anemia with it characteristics in children who is hospitalized in Kemuning Ward of Kabupaten Tangerang General Hospital, April 2009. This study is a descriptive cross-sectional study which is done on patient who is hospitalized on Kemuning Ward of Kabupaten Tangerang General Hospital, April 2009. From the medical record children were evaluated as to their hemoglobin levels which then grouped by the WHO criteria for the severity of anemia. Then, we make a note of the spread of sex, age, and the diagnosis. From 108 data, it is recorded high prevalence of anemia which is 46 (4.6%), 28 (60.9%) mild anemia, 13 (28.3%) moderate anemia, 1 (2.7%) severe anemia, and 4 (8.7%) threaten live. From this 46 data, recorded 27 (58.7%) girls and 19 (4.3%) boys. 22 (47.8%) age between 1 month - 5 years old.
