The Role of the "GI" Acupunture Therapy in Treating Stroke Patients"
The “GI” acupunture is a needle insertion technique combining eastern medication knowledge and western medical science. It is based on the princiiple of masage with primary points on the neck (2 points), abdomen (3 points) and lower legs (2 points). Worls Health Organization (WHO) sates that acupunture has been proved to be an effective treatment for stoke. In this study, the “GI” acupunture therapy was applied clinically to stroke patients. The obserwasional study was conducted within 3 months (Febrary-April 2011) to stoke patients having the “GI” acupunture therapy at Suakamenak Acupunture Clinik and UPT Bumi Medika Ganesa ITB. The motor impairment was assesssed with Bartihel Index and Morticity Index, also with handgip strenth using handgrip dynamometer. Result were analyzed usingpaired sample t-test.
