Hypertension Survey among the Elderly at Kembangragi Village, Pasimasunggu Subdistrict, Selayar Regency, South Sulawesi (Survei Hipertensi pada Lansia di Desa Kembangragi Kecamatan Pasimasunggu Kabupaten Selayar, Sulawesi Selatan)

One of results of development was increase of life expectancy. Research has shown that more elderly people in Indonesia suffer from high blood pressure. This research was done to measure the blood pressure of one hundred elderly people chosen randomly. Blood pressure was divided into 6 categories i.e. normal blood pressure, high normal blood pressure, mild high blood pressure, moderate high blood pressure, severe high blood pressure, and extremely high blood pressure. The number of patients with mild high blood pressure was 34 percent, and normal blood pressure 26 percent, high normal blood pressure 17 percent, moderate high blood pressure 14 percent, severe high blood pressure 7 percent, and extremely high blood pressure 2 percent.
