Early Cancer Detection Program during 5 Decades of the Indonesian Freedom Life (Perjalanan Deteksi dan Penanganan Lesi Prakanker Serviks di 50 Tahun Negeriku)

During 5 decades of the Indonesians freedom life we can see the positive changes of early cancer detection program and its therapeutical management. Searching for invasive cancer was done at the beginning, but the pattern has been changed to early detection as we can see now. So the management also has been changed from radiation and radical operation for intensive cancers to management of the precancer lesions such as the ablative method or local excision. Advanced technology in well developed countries has been adopted in our country and of course with certain limitations in accepting the system itself, limitations in human resources and the equipments, and the negative effects of social cultural factors and lack of patients health education. Up until now the management of precancer lesions have been done by the health personels who were not yet been trained in performing colposcopy.
