Uji daya Repelan Ekstrak Etanol 70% Daun Batang Tomat (Lycocopersicon esculentum Mill) terhadap Nyamuk Aedes aegypti (Repellent Assay of Ethanol Extract of Tomato Leaves and Stem (Lycopersicom esculentum Mill.) Against Mosquito Aedes aegypti)
Leaves and stem of tomato (Lycopersion esculentum Mill) has been traditionaly used as insect repellent as it’s specific odor. They contain alkoloid, saponin, tritepenoid-steroid, flavonoid, tannin and glycoside. Using of tomato leaves and stem as insect repellent should be supported by the scientific studies. This study aims to determine whether the tomato leaves and stem can be used as insect repeilent against mosquito Aedes aegypti Extraction proceed by maceration using 70% ethanol solvent A preliminary assay conducted with concentation: 6%,12%, 24%, and 48% w/vand the positive control 13% DEET. Observation conducted by counting mosquitoes that perched on the arm and suck the blood (in 1-6 hour), and then calculated the percentage of power of repellent. Result showed that there were significant differences of power of repellent between each concentration and time to the power of repailent. The greater the concentration the higher the power of repellent, and longer time of observation the lower the power of repelent. From this study can be conducted that the extract of tomato leaves and stem give a high power repellent against A. Aegypti at concentration of 48% w/v.
