Malaria pada Anak Usia Sekolah di Kabupaten Nias Selatan
The study was conducted to provide data on prevalence clinical signs and symptoms of malaria among school-age children South Nas district. Teh data was collected by cross sectional methods. Diagnosis of malaria was made by blood examination (microscopic). Among 279 students examined, 41 were positive-20 students got Plasmodium falciparum, 2 students got plasmodium falciparum, 2 students got Plasmodium vivax and 19 students, 78% had fever (with or without other symptoms). Patients without fever usually suffered from myalgia (7.3%), headache (9.8%), abdominal dsicomfort (2.4%) and weakness (2,4%). Clinical signs consisted of increased body temperature, without spleen enlargement. Fever is not always found in malaria patient in endemic area. Myalgia, headache, abodominal disconfort and weakness area also clinical symptoms of malaria especially in endemic area.
