Isu Pasangan Klien pada Pelayanan VCT: Studi Eksplorasi pada Dua Pelayanan di Jakarta
Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) means to know the status of HIV infection and further to prevent its spreading. Result of VCT is confidential, but it becomes complicated when someone with HJV has spouse/sexual partner.
This article describes clients and their spouse issues in VCT services. The study used qualitative method assessed semi-structure interview to 66 post-services clients, employed indepth interview to two program managers, focus group discussion wjth two counsellor groups, and document review on VCT guidelines. The study took place in a government-owned referral hospital and a non-government organization focuses on HIVand AIDS prevention, both located in Jakarta.
Result shows that VCT services has not yet optimally considered spouse needs due to barriers from the client itself, besides the counseling process has not put the spouse issue yet. Additionally, this situation was not supported by sufficient VCT guidelines in considering client' spouse issue in VCT services.
VCT training needs to underline the awareness on the confidentiality matter, differences of HIV infection modes between man and woman, and the success stories of disclosure done by PLWHs to their spouse.
