Reproductive Health of Female Scavengers in Surabaya
This study intended to overview the reproductive health of female scavengers in Surabaya. It is an operation research uses a qualitative approach combined with quantitative analysis. The 37 respondents purposively recruited involving primary, secondary and key informants. Research instruments included questionnaires, in-depth interviews, document review and focus group discussions. The research shows the lack of knowledge on reproductive health both female scavengers and their husbands. Female waste collectors encounter high risk of reproductive health problems. They generally experience difficulties in meeting the reproductive health needs. Furthermore, Husbands supports on reproductive health inadequate. Despite the unavailability of reproductive health services specially provided by relevant agencies, female scavengers have great expectation of adequate and free reproductive health
services from government and concerning agents.
