Pengaruh Ekstrak Etanol 70% Bawang Merah (Allium cepa L) terhadap Kadar Glukosa Darah Tikus Putih (Rattus norvegicus) Jantan yang Dibebani Glukosa
It has been proven from the last studies that onion (Allium cepa L.) has a hypoglycemic effect from its polyphenolic antioxidant especially quersetin in high concentration. To know the hypoglycaemic effect of 70% ethanolic extract of onion (Allium cepa L.) was studied in glucose-loaded male white rats. This study was laboratory experimental study. Twenty five male !Nistar rats with 170-260gr of body weight were divided into five groups, group I: aquadest, group 1/: 30mg1200gBW dose of onion extract, group Ill: 60mgl200gBW dose of onion extract, group IV: 120mg1200gBW dose of onion extract, and group V: glibenclamide. Blood glucose level measured at 20 minutes before glucose loading and at 30th, 60th, 120th, and 180th minutes after glucose loading. Treatment were administered orally right after the measurement of first blood glucose level. At the end of experiment, AUCO-180 were counted. Oata were analyzed by oneway-ANOVA and post-Hoc test using SPSS 17. The result shown that AUCO-180 of the highest doses of onion extract (120mgl200gBW) significantly lower than an aquadest group (21.342±1.216,68 vs 25. 665±2.574,69, p;0,01). Conclusion: The 70% ethanolic extract of onions at single doses of 120mg1200gBW could lowering blood glucose in glucose-loaded male white rats significantly.
