Occupational Dermatosis in Automobile-Assembly-Plant Workers (Dermatosis pada Pekerja Karoseri)
The workers of automobile assembling industry consists of painters, welders, assemblers and mechanic workers, are exposed to several sensitizers such as chrome, nickel, cobalt, epoxy and acrylic resin, glue and rubber. Also, several irritants such as solvents, oil, cutting oil, and cleaners. The most common occupational skin disease that occured among those workers are fiberglass dermatitis, solvent dermatitis, oil dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis caused by those sensitizers, oil acne, and skin injury. The diagnostic approach, management and prevention of those skin problems have been presented. The dermatologist can do much to foster a better understanding within the engineering industry of the skin problems association with chemicals used in the manufacturing of automobiles.
