Trichomonas Vaginalis Infection in Patients with Fluor Albus (Infeksi Trichomonas Vaginalis pada Penderita Keputihan)
Fluor albus is an excessive vaginal discharge, often caused by T. vaginalis. Other symptoms include malodour, pruritus itching, redness, swelling of the vaginal introitus and burning sensation inside the vagina. The purpose of this study was to study the prevalence of this disease. The study was done in the Laboratory of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Jakarta. The cases were 303 women, the ages ranged between 20-50 years. The method of examination was the wet smear using physiological solution. In this test, the parasites will appear as motile pears or rossetes. The results showed that the prevalence was 6.6 percent out of 303 patients. The age, marital status and pregnancy did not interfere with the results.
