A research was carried out to know the effectiveness of oral ketoconazol given in four weeks to patients suffering from tinea imbrikata at Mekar Pelita and Bora villages, Sayan District, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. The oral doses were given in four weeks to adults : 200 mg single dose daily, and to children : 3 mg/kg BW single dose daily. The effectiveness of the treatment was assessed based on the clinical improvement and microscopic examination using 20 percent KOH : negative, and was grouped into effective, fairly effective, less effective and non effective. The result of the treatment showed : 32.3 percent effective and 64.5 percent fairly effective. The size of the lesion and where the lesion was, located affected the effectiveness of the treatment. The larger the lesion was, the less clinical improvement achieved. Lesions on the face and body (usually skin areas covered by clothes) recovered faster than those on the face hand and foot.
