Perbandingan Efektivitas Antara Akupunture PC-6 dan Ondansetron dalam Mencegah Insident Mual dan Muntah Pasca Bedah Ortopedi (The Comparison of Effectivenes Between Acupunture PC-6 and Ondansetron In Avoiding Post Operative Nausea and Vomiting Incident In An Orthopaedic Surgery)
Post Operative Nausea and vomiting (PONV) has recently received increasing attention among anesthesiologists since it causes discomfort and danger to unconscious patient. It was hypothesized that acupunture of PC-6 administered before anesthesia induction may reduce nauseavomiting inciident. Ondanestron has been as “gold standard” anti emetic. This study aimed o examine the relative effectiveness acupunture to ondansetron as pre medical anesthesia in avolding PONV incident. This was an experimental astudy. The population of the research is surgical patient in IBS (Intalasi Bedah Sentral) RSO Prof Dr. R. Soeharto, Surakarta. A sample of 30 patients were assigned to two groups, 15 patients received acupunture PC-6, and another 15 received 4 mg ondansetron. The data were analyzed using chi square. One patient from acupunture group and 2 patient from ondansetron group experiented nausea-vomiting in the first 30 minutes. Statistical showed no significant difference between acupunture PC-6 and ondansetron in preventing PONV incident. The acupunture PC-6 and ondansetron in preventing PONV incident. The acupunture effectivenness is equal to that of ondansetron, so that it can be used as alternative anestesis for preventing PONV incident.
