To access the impact of contraception DMPA injection to bone mineral density (BMD) of lumbar spine (LSI-4) for short term acceptor before the 3nd injection for short term acceptor (before the 3rd injection for short term acceptors (before the 3rd injection on the 24th week or 6 months and before the 5th injection on the 48th week or 1 year) sompared to non acceptor as control and long term acceptor (≥ 5 years) using Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). The study was conducted in Makasar from January 2006 to March 2007, 33 short term DMPA injection acceptors, 33 non-acceptors, and 31 long term DMPA injection acceptors, 33 non-acceptors, and 31 long term DMPA injection acceptors were recruited. Cross Sectional Study. Mean age 25.7±3,1 years for short term acceptors; 27.2±4.8 years for controls. Mean Body Mass Index 21.9±1,9 kg/m2 for short term acceptors; 21.5±1.2 km/m2 for control. No significant difference in bone mineral density of lumbar spine (LS) 1.4 were found be tween the two groups before study (p>0.05). after six month esposured, the BMD LS 1-4 of short term acceptors were lower than controls and there is significance difference by Mann Whitney Test (p
