A Study on the Efficacy and Safety of Intravenous Ketorolac for Postoperative Pain Relief after General Anaesthesia for Open Reduction and Internal Fixtion of Fracture Humerus
This study compared the analgesic efficacy and safety of i.v ketorolac 30 mg 6 hourly with that of PR ciclofenac 50 mg 8 hourly for pestoperative pain relief within 24 hr period, in patients undergoing ORIF of fracture humerus under general anesthesia. Sixty patients (thirty in each group) was administered when VAS was ≥6 VA (visual analogue scale, 10 cm linear scale). VRS (verbal rating scale), haemodynamic parameters and side effects of the patients were assessed 4 hourly during 24 hrpost-operative period starting at time of wound closure, and compared statistically between groups. Mean vas scores in ketorolac group were lower than those of diclofenac group except at 24 hr assessment. The differenceswere statistically significant at 4,8 and 12 hr assessments (p
