Pengaruh Pemberian Virgin Coconut Oil terhadap Ketebalan Dinding Aorta Abdominalis Tikus Wistar Setelah Diinduksi Aterogenesis
The reduction of lipid in the body can decrease the amount of Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol and enhance the amount of ʵDensity Lipoprotein whith can reduce the risk of etherosclerosis. Medium chain fatty acid (MCFA) can reduce the amount of lipid in the body. Virgin conconut oil contains faty acid (92%), cominated by lauric acid (53%) which in structured as MCFA. This experiment aimed to prove the effect of virgin coconut oil to the thickness of aortic wall, which is the sign of atherosclerosis. The randomized post-test control group was chosen as the research design. The object of the study was 16 wistars, divided into 2 groups. Group 1 inducced atherosclerosis with initial injection by 0,0006 mg/200 gram body weight adrenalin on the first day, followed by egg yolk dietary on the 2nd to 28ʵʱdays, on the 29ʵʱ to 56th days was given by 0,00345 ml/gram body weight virgin coconut oil per day. The thickness of abdominal aortic was measured after termination. Data was analyzed by univariate analysis, as well as Independendent T-test. The study showed that the mean of the chickness of aortic wall in the group 1 (37,27±6,89) were higher than group II (23,32±5,05), and the median in the group 1 (35,53) is higher than group II (23,38).
