An observational analytic study of sodium concentration in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever with severe respiratory distress has been conducted in Pediatric Department of Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. The population studies is 15 dengue hemorrhagic fever patients consist of 8 with (53 percent) and 7 with normal sodium concentration (47 percent). There is no significant difference in the incidence of pleural effusion, disturbance of consciousness, lung edema and mortality between hyponatremia and normonatremic patient (p more than 0.5). The incidence of recurrent , however is higher in hyponatremic group (p more than 0.1 less than 0.5).
