Cedera Akibat Jatuh pada Penduduk Usia Lanjut (Usila) yang Mengalami Obesitas di Indonesia
Injuries due to falls in elderly is a major issue for health in the world due to rapid increases in life expectancy. Falling influenced by intrinsic factors (instability). He purpose of this article is to show the magnitude of obesity risk with injury due to falls in elderly people in Indonesia. This article is an advance analysis on 5.339 respondents of national health survey (riskesdas) data subst from interviews on elderly people (≥60 years) from 33 provinces in Indonesia. The dependent variable is the injury due to falls. Independent variables are obesity and other variables including age, gender, education and employment, economic status and urban/rural. Data were analyzed by weighted complex samples, tested by Chi square test and logistic regression to calculate crude odd ratio and adjusted odd ratio. Results showed that the proportion of injuries due to falls in elderly people (≥60 tahun) in Indonesia 70.20%. There are 9 provinces have the injuries proportion more than the national injuries proportion more higher than the national injury proportion and almost all provinces have injury proportion more than 50%. Injuries due to falls experienced more among older people aged 60 to 69 years old, female, low education, unemploy and have low economic status. Elderly people who have the status of obesity (BMI>27) 1,18 times potential risk of injury due to falls (95% CI 0.858-1.820). Conclusion: Obesity is a risk factor contributed to the occurrence of injury due to falls. For that we need to prioritize obesity as one consideration in efforts to prevent injuries due to falls.
