The Diagnosis of Anemia (Diagnosis Anemia)
Anemia is usually defined as a condition in which the amount of haemoglobin in blood is reduced. The normal concentration of hemoglobin depend on the method, age, sex and geographic area. Three steps are carried out in the diagnostic approach to an anemic patient, the medical history, physical examination and laboratory test. Laboratory test are performed to quantitate red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelet and peripheral blood smear evaluation for morphologic classification and etiology of the anemia.
