The role of ultrasound in fetal assessment is not merely aiming at determining the presence, location, life, number, or presentation of the fetus. It is, moreover, useful in determinibng gestational age, fetal weight, growth, the presence of congenital anomaly as well as assessing fetal environment and functional integrity such as : amniotic, placental maturity, umbilical cord, subcutaneous fat and muscle mass.
