Vascular Embolization : The Experience in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta (Embolisasi Vaskular : Pengalaman di Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Nasional Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, Jakarta)
Vascular embolization is an interventional method of treatment by occluding certain vessels aimed to cure a certain disease. This paper reported 96 patients treated by this method in the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. The results showed that in arterivenous fistulas of the spinal cord, embolization improved paraplegic condition became paraparetic. A case of juvenile angiofibroma didn't need blood transfusion after vascular embolization at the time of surgery. In a case dural fistulas, edema of the eyes disappeared and the pressure of the eye ball became normal. It was concluded that vascular embolization could be used for alternative as well as definitive therapy.
