The Examination of Protein and pH Level of Saliva from Malignancies Patients Who Treated by Radiation on Head and Neck's Area (Pemeriksaan pH dan Kadar Protein Saliva Penderita Tumor Ganas yang Mendapat Radiasi Daerah Kepala dan Leher)
The aim of this study was to examine the protein level and pH of saliva from malignancies patients who were treated by radiation on head and neck's area. Samples were collected from the ambulatory patients at the Radiotherapy Unit of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. The protein level was determined by the Bradford method and pH was measured using lacmus paper. The results showed that the protein level decreased in accordance with the increased dose of radiation after 2000 cGy. The pH of saliva was neutral and no correlation with the dose of radiation.
