Seventy-one patients with tinea cruris and tinea corporis were enrolled in a double blind comparative study on effectiveness of 1 percent clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate with bifonazole cream. The clinical and mycological results of both two drugs were nearly similar. One percent clotrimazole and 0.05 percent betamethasone has more potent antiinflammatory effect during the first three days of therapy compared to 1 percent bifonazole (p less than 0.05), and showed no side effect for 2 weeks usage. The mycological cure rate at the end of therapy of 1 percent clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate 0.05 percent group was 96.42 percent while the 1 percent clotrimazole group was 100 percent respectively. But 7 days after gestation of therapy the cure rate of the 1 percent clotrimazole with 0.05 percent betamethasone dipropionate group was 85.71 percent and 84 percent for the 1 percent bifonazole group.
