Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone Agonist (GnRH-a) in the Treatment of Uterine Fibromas (Penanggulangan Padanan Hormon Pelepas Gonadotropin Agonis (GnRH-a) pada Kasus Fibroma Uterus)
Nine cases of uterine fibromas the size of 12-14 weeks pregnancy. The age of the patients were 20-40 years old. The design of the study was prospective observational, and the study was conducted as a preliminary study for the targeted 20 cases. Results of the study showed that volume reduction of the tumor varied individually, with an average of 48.3 percent. FSH and LH levels decreased during the first week of therapy, and the estradiol levels were markedly decreased to less than 20 picograms/ml, facilitating myomectomy. Ultrasound studies showed an increase of 36.4 percent arterial resistance index, minimizing intraoperative bleeding. Menstruation occured 78.8 + 5.7 days after the last dosage. GnRH-a is effective as an adjuvant in the treatment of uterine fibroma.
