Plants and its Bioactive Substances which having Anti HIV (Tumbuhan dan Senyawa Bioaktif yang Memiliki Potensi sebagai Anti Virus HIV)

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) had pandemic around of the world. This diseases because human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected. By December 1990, a global total of approximately 307.000 cases of AIDS had been officially reported to be WHO survey, and about 8-10 million human can be infected HIV in the year 2000. The synthetic drugs showed high toxicity level, dangerous and very expensive. In the present, the scientists in more accentuation to natural drugs from plants species. Many of plants species had been tested on anti-HIV activities by in vitro assay and some of them showed significant activity anti-HIV such as castanospermine, calanolides and michelamine, etc. Some of Indonesia tropical rain forest plants had been screening by NCl and nearly 100 of plants species showed as potential anti-HIV.
