Typhoid Fever Carrier in the Family of Thypoid Fever Patients at Gubeng and Tambaksari Districts, Surabaya Municipality (Carrier Demam Tifoid dalam Keluarga Penderita Demam Tifoid di Kecamatan Gubeng dan Tambaksari Kotamadya Surabaya)

Typhoid fever is still an endemic disease in Surabaya. Typhoid fever carrier plays important role in spreading typhoid fever disease. This research was carried out in Gubeng and Tambaksari district Surabaya Municipality in 1992. The purpose of this research is to find the prevalance of typhoid fever carrier among healthy family members of the person who suffered from typhoid fever in Gubeng and Tambaksari district. There were 108 patients having positive gall culture among 543 healthy family members. Out of 543 healthy family members 268, had positive feces culture for Salmonella typhi. The possibility of female to be a carrier of typhoid fever is twice higher than male. Environmental sanitation also might play important role in typhoid fever carrier incidence.
