The Use of Hygroscopic Dilatator on Unsusccessfully Colposcopy (Penggunaan Dilatator Higroskopik pada Kolposkopi tak Memuaskan)
Objective : To evaluate the transformation zone in undecessive colposcopic findings after the insertion of hygroscopic dilatators. Study selection : Prospective, descriptive study for 2 years from January 1, 1992 until December 31, 1993. Setting : Private colposcopy clinic and at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Main outcome measure : Successful colposcopic examination of the entirely transformation zone of uterine cervix. Results : There were 11 cases (4.9 percent) of undecessive colposcopic findings and hygroscopic dilatators (Dilapan) were inserted for 120 minutes. Diagnostic distributions of studied-cases were 4 cases (36.4 percent) of low grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasias (LGSIL), 6 cases (54.5 percent) high grade SIL, and 1 case (9.1 percent) of glandular intraepithelial neoplasia (GIL). Complications post-dilatators insertion were after pains 36.4 percent, bleeding 45.4 percent, no dilation and the lesion could not be seen 9.1 percent and 9.1 percent none. Conclusions : The usage of hygroscopic dilatator with its limitation was very usefull in the transformation zone examination, and therefore hinder the high rate of diagnostic conization.
