The Anthropometry of Newborn Babies at Central General Hospital of Palembang (Antropometri Bayi Baru Lahir di RSUP Palembang)
Objective : To provide measurements of anthropometry for various gestational periods of newborn babies in Central General Hospital of Palembang. Design/data identification : Multicenter case study coordinated by the working group of Neonatology IDAI (Indonesian Paediatrician Society), Prospective (August 1989 up to November 1990). Setting : Central General Hospital of Palembang. Subjects, patients, participants : 253 newborn babies born from mother without pregnancy/delivery complication. Main outcome measures : Anthropometric measurements of newborn babies. Results : Data were analysed based on gestational periods which were determined from the first day of the mother's last periods, gestational periods of 34 to 37 weeks : birth weigh 2,299.44 plus/minus 686.22 gr, body length 443.22 plus/minus 50.92 mm, head circle 311.50 plus/minus 27.99 mm, thorax circle 287.11 plus/minus 37.75 mm, arm circle 94.67 plus/minus 26.19 mm. Gestational periods of 37 to 42 weeks : birth weight 3,025.09 plus/minus 424.36 gr, body length 493.12 plus/minus 26.16 mm, head circle 330.92 plus/minus 23.00 mm, thorax circle 319.89 plus/minus 24.11, arm circle 104.92 plus/minus 31.84 mm. Gestationl periods of more than 42 weeks : birth weight 3,211.74 plus/minus 380.34 gr, body length 490.39 plus/minus 42.56 mm, head circle 338.13 plus/minus 13.33 mm, thorax circle 328.74 plus/minus 15.63 mm, arm circle 114.61 plus/minus 45.40 mm. Due to the lack of data the measurement for gestational periods of less than 34 weeks cannot be reported.
